Detboi, producer/dj from Dublin who started cutting his production teeth in the early 00’s under the moniker Xerox Soundsystem (with his friend SpeakerTreatz) making Cut Ups for MTV U.K. and gaining recognition from Erol Alkan and many others. His love for old school rave and hip hop shaped the sound of his early productions. Since his first EP (’hold up’) dropped In 2008, he has gained praise from the major players of the scene in Herve/Sinden/Annie Mac and Crookers. In 2008 Detboi signed to Skint records releasing the widely acclaimed Come Rest Up / Jump Up & Down EP, appearing on the Count and Sindens Essential mix and Tommie Sunshines ‘Relax, This Won’t Hurt’ mix series. 2008 also seen Detboi becoming a major contributor on the massive collaboration LP ‘Machines Dont Care’ producing with Herve, Sinden and Trevor Loveys, before wwiftly signing to Cheap Thrills Records and going on to remix for labels such as Southern Fried, Skint and Epitaph, whilst also doing a highly acclaimed “In new djs we trust’ mix for BBC RADIO 1. Detboi adds to his catalogue with a new collaboration with Cheap Thrills boss Hervé entitled ‘Warlord’ on the new Machines Don’t Care EP.

Due out around the end of the month, this release comes hot on the heels of his new nine-track EP (slash mini-album?!) “Curse of the Voodoo Drums pt2″, out now. The support for the first single “Sanctuary of Love” has been astounding, with blog love and dj support both stacking up in abundance.

Brand new mix from Detboi

With the support around ‘Sanctuary of Love’ at the moment (Adam F, Drop The Lime, Tony Senghore, Feadz, Nick Warren, Lol Boys, Rack N’ Ruin, Disco Bloodbath’s Dan Beaumont plus so many more supporting, also airplay from Triple J Radio, Australia and East Village Radio – New York) you’d be forgiven for thinking this is the only Detboi production due for release. In fact it’s just one of a number of tracks by Detboi that will see the light of day in the coming weeks.

Happily, several exclusive and as yet unheard tracks are included in this new mix, including ‘OG Killa’ from Detboi’s follow up to “Curse of the Voodoo Drums” EP, and the new Machines Don’t Care track (with Hervé) ‘Horns of Cthulu (Voices Inside My Head)’… as far as we know this is the only place to hear the track on the internet at the moment!

Stabbinz (a track we featured here) will also be released on Hervé’s ‘Ghetto Bass 2.5′ compilation, due out later this year.

Detboi’s new track on Cheap Thrills ‘Sanctuary of Love’ is being promo’ed at the moment, which can mean only one thing… it’s getting a release soon! The words ‘kid’ and ‘christmas’ spring to mind as we’ve been eagerly awaiting the new EP since, well… since the last one came out!

We’ve already posted the video of the original mix of this track (produced by Detboi himself!), which blew us away with some stunning visual work, and happily there’s more of the same for this mix.

Detboi’s followup to “Curse of the Voodoo Drums pt1″ (yes you’ve got it, “Voodoo Drums pt2″) is all finished and ready to go… watch out for release on Cheap Thrills in the coming weeks.

Once again Dublin based Detboi delivers that little bit more with nine fresh tracks including collaborations with label mate Baxta and the up and coming Mista Men. Not content to pigeonhole himself in one musical genre, “Voodoo Drums pt2″ covers pretty much everything good about dance music, from deep house, dubstep and disco to tropical beats and beyond.

We just can’t get enough of the 90’s rave vibes going on in this number “Sanctuary of Love” ft Mista Men.

More previews + Voodoo Drums pt2 promo mix coming soon!
