Few musical acts can lay claim to such dynamic and consistent evolution as Blu Mar Ten. Formed in the big-bang of 90’s drum & bass and regular faces at Rage, Metalheadz, Speed & AWOL, Blu Mar Ten were rapidly spotted by LTJ Bukem and signed to Good Looking Records, cementing their position in the genre as originators of complex, atmospheric music. They quickly grew and mutated beyond the confines of the jungle into lush experimentation with downtempo, ambient, house, breaks, techno & left-field for labels such as Naked Music, Guidance, Big Chill, with two full albums of non-d&b material on Exceptional Records. This new material saw Blu Mar Ten gain support from DJs such as Tom Middleton, Rennie Pilgrem, Pete Tong, Felix da Housecat, Ben Watt, Carl Cox, Lee Burridge, Erol Alkan, Howie B and Mary Anne Hobbs. Blu Mar Ten also remixed a series of major and independent artists, including Erykah Badu, Annie Lennox, Alicia Keys, Terry Lee Brown Junior, Jakatta, The Ananda Project, Doc Scott, Fink and Blame. 2005 saw Blu Mar Ten return to the drum & bass scene, with the next 18 months producing a string of releases on labels such as Hospital, Renegade Hardware, Shogun Audio, 31 Records, Tangent, Phuzion, Vibez & Basement. 2009 saw the release of the ‘Close’ and ‘Believe Me’ EPs, preludes to Blu Mar Ten’s long-awaited first full drum & bass album ‘Natural History’ which was released in November 2009. The album delivers an incredibly wide range of drum & bass tracks from the deeply abstract to the unashamedly dancefloor, all bearing Blu Mar Ten’s trademark stamp of quality. DJ support for Blu Mar Ten’s new material has been pouring in from right across the d&b family tree, leaving you in no doubt at the trio’s position at the forefront of the scene… Support from: Marky, London Elektricity, Doc Scott, Teebee, Instra:mental, D Bridge, Hype, John B, Logistics, Ed Rush, Marcus Intalex, Utah Jazz, Makoto, Spectrasoul , Apex, SPY, Craggz, DKay, Seba, Loxy, Ink, Lynx, John B, Randomer, Data, Nerm & D-Kode, Annie Nightingale, Crissy Criss, Mosus, Furney, A Sides, Tom Middleton, ASC, State of Mind, Kubiks, Lomax, Alleycat, Big Bud and many more

The groundswell is building in the run up to Blu Mar Ten’s 5th release on their own label of the same name. “Still The One” is a collaboration with Inside Info and is the first single release from their new album to be released winter 2011.
Clips of the tracks are available via the band’s soundcloud and can be heard by clicking play below, or by heading over to UKF or Skank&Bass youtube channels.
Listeners to John B and Hospital Record’s podcasts will be well aware of this track from the heavy support coming from these names.
To further support the release Blu Mar Ten and Inside Info have put together this DJ Mix (which features both tracks from their new single) and will be available for shows together in the autumn. Click play for the mix – track list is after the jump.

Blu Mar Ten have just dropped us a line announcing that they plan to release a brand new album later this year!
The album will be released in the autumn, with the first single coming out june / july 2011. The single promises to be a surprise fans of both ends of the drum n bass spectrum – they’re collaborating with Insideinfo on a track entitled “Still the One”. On the flip is a track called “Five Summers” which is in a simliar vein to “If I Could Tell You” from the last album.
Blu Mar Ten and Insideinfo are so happy working together they’ve decided to take it to the clubs, DJing together in a show that will be a journey through the entire spectrum of 170bpm beats – the complete drum n bass experience.
Watch this space for updates on the project and (hopefully) a taste of Blu Mar Ten & Insideinfo in the mix. In the meantime you can catch a preview of what the track is sounding like from this video of the mastering session at Finyl Tweek Studios. There will be soundcloud link online soon.

Blu Mar Ten are raising money for charity, Cancer Research UK to be precise, and to do this they are giving away their remix of Erykah Badu & The Roots ‘You Got Me’.
The track was released ten years ago as a limited edition one-sided 12″ and has been fetching silly money on eBay ever since. In their words ‘It’s probably the most popular track we’ve ever made and this is why we’ve decided to use it to raise cash for the charity.”
People can download a copy of the track in return for a donation to Cancer Research UK. All money is donated directly to Cancer Research UK though www.justgiving.com and is not administered by BMT at all.
Their aim was to raise £2000 for the charity, a target which they have smashed in just 2 days!! But they don’t want to stop there… so please get yourself over to www.blumarten.com/cancerresearch and donate to download and help support their efforts and this worthy cause.

With new singles, a new album, new collaborations, some free tunes and new mixes all coming out in 2011, Blu Mar Ten have been surprisingly retrospective of late, particularly with their soundcloud uploads. Don’t let the picture disturb you, no-one has died – thats just us trying to be clever on the whole ‘looking into the past’ thing.
Actually its a very good thing for Blu Mar Ten fans out there and anyone who was into drum n bass “back in the day”.
BMT have been digging through everything from their old record boxes to their old boxes of dats. They’ve even been dusting down boxes full of such distant technology as C90s – they’re cassette tapes for those of you who think CDs are old school.
All this digging has unearthed a vast array of gems from their back catalogue, and they’ve kindly taken the time and effort to clean them up as much as possible, digitise them, and upload them onto their soundcloud account. Head on over and relive the glory – its an impressive collection which makes you realise just how long Blu Mar Ten have been making amazing music. That they are still so relevant today makes it all the more impressive.
This is just a taste of what awaits you at their soundcloud page:

I said in the last post about Blu Mar Ten that this was a particular favourite remix. The track hung around in the dubstep beatport chart for many days and is a favourite remix amongst fans. Kastle his own unique twist on this, which is why it stands out so much for us here, but props must go to Blu Mar Ten who provided a stunning set of tools with which to make a remix!
With the interest in their forthcoming album ‘Natural History: Revision’ starting to build following the announcement of the competition winners (which will be included on the album) we thought we would post the youtube videos for the Kastle remix and as this is about Blu Mar Ten, here is their original version, which is a belter!
