20 year old Baxta is a exciting young producer and Dj coming out of west London. Getting his first set of turntables at 12 he started mixing old Reggae and ska records and at 16 got his first Job working at the London record Shop Rough Trade but it wasn’t until listening to Rinse Fm and finding a whole new world of underground music that he decided to start making music of his own. His unique Dubstep style draws influence from many u.k genres such as garage/2step DnB Dub and uk rave but always putting his own stamp on his tracks with unique sounds and a good ear for a melody making his Dj sets and productions exciting and very entertaining. Baxta had his first release on Herves Label Cheap thrills in september of 2010 the “Mr Sinister” E.p and the follow up “Connection” E.p is set to be released early 2011 with remix’s from Dub Police artists D1 and Soundproof. He has recently worked on tracks with Detboi, Herve, Meleka, Dansette Junior, Soundproof and remixed tracks for Shades of rhythm, The Count and Sinden, Trevor Loveys, Love Amongst Ruin, and Detboi. his records have seen supported by Dj’s such as Zane Lowe, Herve, Martelo, Eddy Temple Morris, His majesty Andre, Warrior One, Junior Sanchez…. and as a Dj he’s played alongside Dubstep heavyweights such as Coki and the Others and also on Rinse fm.

Last weekend Oxford Circus Topman in London was packed to the rafters with some of the biggest names in dance music for the CALM (or Campaign Against Living Miserably) takeover. Hosted by Eddy Temple Morris and Zane Lowe, shoppers were treated to an all-star lineup including Dan Le Sac, Mistajam, Kissy Sellout, Rob Da Bank, Huw Stephens & The Loose Cannons to name but a few.
Cheap Thrills boss Hervé also went back to back with our man Baxta and did their bit for the campaign, which provides a free, anonymous and confidential helpline for young men suffering depression or simply having trouble dealing with life’s stresses, rather than shouldering the burden alone.
If you’d like to know more about the CALM campaign, head over to their website and get involved with a very worthwhile cause.
