The hype is building round HeavyFeet’s new EP on Champion Records… teaming up with vocalist Nate James (heavily tipped by BBC 1Xtra) and enlisting The Wideboys on remix duties, the release comes complete with a brand new video (Wideboys Rmx) which is being plugged to TV & Radio as we speak.

HeavyFeet are also pleased to announce they will be taking the helm at BBC 1Xtra as ’Homegrown Residents’ throughout March, broadcasting live from the London studios every Sunday in March (7-10pm).

HeavyFeet Promo Mix – Summer 2011 by HeavyFeet

HeavyFeet have recently remixed ‘Your Life’, the forthcoming single from Virus Syndicate. Their remixes (radio, club mix and dub), plus additional remixes from Starkey and Funkystepz, will be available at the end of May on the Safe & Sound label. The original was produced by Mowgli, with additional production provided by HeavyFeet.

HeavyFeet are featured in IDJ Mag this month, discussing their evolution as an act over the past couple of years, and looking back at their Stamp! Beats label output.

As the penultimate release of HeavyFeet’s ‘12 singles over 12 months’ project powers into view, delivering yet another wonderfully diverse musical package from the Mancunian production outfit, what better way for the duo to celebrate than by inviting Jon Rice (of HeavyFeet’s 4th single, ‘Saving Me’) back to the vocal booth.

‘Raise a Glass’ is a contemporary take on the classic Chicago house sound that HeavyFeet have always sought inspiration from, and includes bumping bass, skippy beats, uplifting synth chords and hooky vocals. Taking these elements one step further, and drawing influence from the 2 Bears (Raf Daddy & Joe Goddard from Hot Chip), HeavyFeet open the track up with a simple club beat and then lead into a suitably developed song, letting epic synths sweep into the chorus section alongside Jon’s deeper lyrical side, giving the breakdown a lovely hands-in-the-air moment to what is an otherwise rather vocally sparse, club influenced number.

The largest HeavyFeet/Stamp! Beats single yet? We think so…

HeavyFeet return in fine form to their trademark bass heavy production approach, opening 2011 with a huge footmark. Their 10th single of 12,  ‘V’s Up’,  features one of the North’s finest hype men,  Mad Rush,  known to most as Chibuku’s resident MC and The Warehouse Project’s energetic vocal stalwart. Unsurprisingly,  ‘V’s Up’ incorporates Mad Rush’s never ending energy and HeavyFeet were insistent this had to be captured in the studio,  so Mad Rush set about writing one of the most crowd hype vocals you’ll hear anytime soon.

The original mix on an introductory half time skank tip,  complete with a savage dubstep bassline and speaker shredding grime stabs quickly switches to a 4/4 chorus, with Mad Rush emphatically demanding the ravers to ‘get ya v’s up!’ HeavyFeet’s own Club Mix fires up the 4/4 wobbles,  thumping latin percussion, select vocal chops and a repetitive,  growing acid line. One for the fans of their current remix output and the DJ Zinc/Crack House sound.

Man of the moment Rack N Ruin delivers a slamming club version,  flexing dubstep,  breaks and heavy club/house elements courtesy of heavy jungle breaks raw ravey basslines and driving 90’s dance stabs. Marcus Visionary,  co-owner of the prolific Liondub label and most recognised in the UK as one of Shy FX’s Digital Soundboy crew delivers a re-fix of mighty proportion,  original percussive stomper,  ‘Georgetown’ layering Mad Rush’s vocals,  select synth licks and orchestral stabs on top of his energetic Liondub release.
