In 2006 Top Billin made themselves a household name in Helsinki with bootleg remixes, hot mixtapes and a monthly club night that was packed every single time from the beginning. Then came the first 12” ep and after that nothing was the same. The now classic first ep has later followed with more top selling EP’s and a split 12” with another hot finnish label, New Judas. Beside running the record label, Top Billin has become a well oiled party machine, rocking shows around the globe from Paris to Berlin and Moscow to New York, with the likes of Justice, Sany Pitbull, Feadz and countless other club favorites. In 2008 they even made their first big tour supporting M.I.A. in Canada Their hometown club night in Helsinki has hosted international guests like Scottie B, DJ Sega, DJ Ayres, Tittsworth, Cosmo Baker, Paul Devro and many others. Beside being club goers favorites, Top Billin have made fans among big name dj’s like Sinden, Tittsworth, Scottie B, Diplo, The Rub DJ’s, Trouble & Bass, Laidback Luke and countless more. They’ve done remixes for artists and labels like Unruly, Trouble & Bass and Stretch Armstrong’s Plant Music. Beside their own label, Top Billin has also produced tracks for T&A Records’ releases. Kelly puts it, “Bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce.”.

It’s great to see so many artists and events doing their bit to help our Japanese brothers in their time of need… millions of people still without electricity, food or clean water, nuclear meltdowns… it’s truly difficult to comprehend.

That’s why Top Billin have decided to release this compilation (originally compiled for sale in the Japanese market) in return for donations to the Japanese Red Cross. Containing recent remixes and productions from the Top Billin catalogue as well as several previously unreleased gems, the whole thing is available for download in exchange for a minimum contribution of €1 (you’re welcome to donate more of course).

Head over to their Bandcamp page to download and donate… 100% of the proceeds go to Japan.

MUM_DECENT_REMIXED1

Mad Decent enlist the services of two Faze 2 artists for their latest EP release which sees a bunch of  their favourite upcoming producers including Faze 2’s Finnish friends Top Billin alongside dubstep man of the moment Jack Sparrow.

In the words of Mad Decent, “Top Billin turns it (Smasher) into a dark club banger with a brand new hook” while Jack Sparrow comes up with a typically distinct take on the original version of his chosen track “Sacrifice” – in the words of Mad Decent again:  “Jack Sparrow removes the sharp edges from the EP’s harshest tracks… using the Badness vocals perfectly and turning a smooth club track”.

Top Billin are off to Singapore and Bali this weekend to catch some sunshine rays and play on some festivals while we’re stuck here in rainy manchester huddled over a laptop.  Life is unfair indeed, but to cheer us up, they kindly dropped this DJ mix over to us to brighten up our day!  And it worked.
The mix is packed full of disco, house and other stuff thats good to dance to that will put the sunshine in your ears.

Alongside the mix they’ve also done this interview for the good people from awe50me of Singapore – it makes for interesting reading so we thought we should share it with the rest of the world too!
Here it is:

NAME & AKA:
TOP BILLIN

AGE:
30 somethings

WHERE YOU FROM / LIVE:
Born and bred in Helsinki, Finland

WHAT YOU DO:
We work hard, play hard and recommend people to harden the fuck up.
